Hi, I’m Becka.

I am a Catholic wife and mother of 3 littles. I married my best friend in January of 2021 and quickly started our (not-so) little family.

I am passionate about a lot of things - my faith, my family, childbirth, friendship, music, the list goes on.

I went to Texas A&M and Blinn College during my undergrad, and finished with degrees in Psychology, Philosophy, and American Sign Language.

During that time, I worked as a youth minister, after which I worked in music ministry. Today, I work part time for a non-profit, do doula work as I am able, and passionately serve as a childbirth educator. Most importantly, I am a stay-at-home mom to my lovely children.

At this time, I am not currently taking new doula clients. Juggling three kids - one of whom is breastfeeding and still not sleeping through the night - proves too difficult to be on call for labors. I hope to return to that life after weaning later this year!

I am, however, taking childbirth education clients! Right now, I am focused on my refresher course, but hope to have a full class up and running as soon as possible. Please email me if you are interested in taking a class! I offer both virtual and in-person classes.

Why did I become a childbirth educator?

The short answer? I am passionate about disproving myths about childbirth and helping women and families feel confident going into their births - no matter what might happen.

The longer answer goes back to when I first took a birth class. I felt so equipped to have a good birth experience even if it didn’t go exactly to plan. I also heard so many other pregnant women around me who were uneducated express their fears and say things that were…frankly? Incorrect.

Childbirth in America has had its ups and downs (a topic we discuss in my class), but it’s on the up and up now, and so many studies and truths about childbirth and how natural it truly is are much more readily available to us.

In fact, I’m always learning. Whether through books or articles or through personal stories and experiences of childbirth shared with me.

I would love the chance to help you learn about pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and the postpartum experience.

Why did I become a doula?

When I got pregnant with my firstborn, I spent a lot of time learning about childbirth in order to set up the best birth plan for my husband and I. We chose to go with the midwife-in-a-hospital delivery route, and it was great. We chose to stay with the same midwife and hospital for our second.

The big thing our midwife instilled in us was a sense of autonomy. We had control over our birth plan, and we felt confident in doing so by doing two things: taking a Bradley Method labor class and researching evidence regarding labor positions, medicines, and much, much more.

When I became a stay-at-home mom, I quickly realized that I missed certain elements of having a job. Of course I loved being with my kiddos, but I had more time on my hands than I anticipated. I didn’t want a full-time job, though, and I wanted complete control over my work schedule. So after some thought and discernment, here we are!

I want to be able to help women feel confident in their birth plan even if they don’t have the time to do all of the research and all of the classes out there. My passion (and now job) is to help women understand childbirth is not at its core a medical emergency, but a natural part of life.
